(CNBC has just begun its second quarter-century.) In this context, I\u2019m sending along two attachments.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><b><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">1.<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/b><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/id\/101581152\" target=\"_blank\"><b>\u201cIndex Mutual Fund Pioneer.\u201d<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"> The CNBC profile of my long career is remarkably insightful, particularly in its recognition of the role of \u201cBogle\u2019s evangelism.\u201d They also identify the often-unrecognized link between Vanguard\u2019s truly <i>mutual<\/i> structure and that first index fund.<b><\/b><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">However you may feel about the culture of stock market television, I\u2019m actually deeply touched by being placed high (#9) on the CNBC list of \u201c25 transformative leaders, icons, and rebels of the past quarter-century.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><b>NOTE<\/b><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">: <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/video.cnbc.com\/gallery\/?video=3000271239&amp;play=1\" target=\"_blank\">I&#8217;ve also included a link to the CNBC video on my career.<\/a> It\u2019s just three minutes in length, but professionally done and power-packed. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><b><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">2.<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/b><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/id\/101577066\" target=\"_blank\"><b>\u201cThe List: CNBC First 25.\u201d<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"> Who are these other icons? Here\u2019s the list, led (deservedly, I think) by #1 Steve Jobs and #2 Bill Gates. Interestingly, Warren Buffett (#6) and I (#9) are the only people from the field of investment management (also, in a limited way, Carl Icahn, #17) on this influential list, which includes at least eight leaders from abroad.<b><\/b><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: medium;\">One of our crew members called an amusing point to my attention. I\u2019m sandwiched between #8 Mark Zuckerberg (net worth, $28.5 billion) and #10 Larry Ellison (net worth, $48 billion). Last time I looked, I\u2019m well below average (to say the least!) relative to these <\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">successful fellows. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">*\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 *\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 *<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <b>Our organization structure and our index strategy<\/b> represent the solid core of the reputation we have earned and the trust we have established with investors . . . and with the world.
