Jack and I had parallel careers in that in his senior thesis he described the index mutual fund and was able to make the theory he described a reality.
In my case the result was not as spectular. In my thesis, written the same year I selected the subject of individual liberty and the managed economy and argued that the two could not survive along side each other and further that the free market system would outlive a controlled economy in the long run.
Both Jack and I saw our ideas come to frution. Jack with the founding of Vanguard and in my case when the Berlin wall came down.
